Lucky Tap is an interactive clicker game develop to create hype for Blibli 10th anniversary campaign on 2021. We reached our first ever milestone to hit 1 million play count during campaign period. It was played by Park Seo Joon (Korean actor) while being aired live to a national television.

In early development phase, we develop proof of concept for the clicker game. When you tap once, then you gain point. The game itself was pretty intuitive and we explored on how to enhance the experience to make it more exciting.

We are also working alongside with marketing team to create one cohesive anniversary experience. It was decided theme will revolved around 80’s dancing musical era. After some explorations, it was decided we would like a character to dance every time we tap.

New methods to entice player during campaign. First is the calendar based grandprize, player can see what’s the potential grandprize they can won if they play on that particular date. Second is streak mechanism, player will get additional prizes on top of their daily free chance on Lucky Tap.

The campaign timeline was separated into two phases. First phase was to hype up the main big event, and the second phase was the main event itself. Two themes were created to reflect these phases accordingly.

Based on rigorous internal user testing, we develop several micro-interaction to elevate user experience during gameplay. By random chance, player able to win an additional prize indicated on the top left.

We also gave user’s action feedback by adding simple pulse animation on circular spotlight that grows bigger on every player’s tap. A sharp coin ringing sound also added to give satisfaction when user increase their score.

Once the timer runs out, player will see one of multiple variations of Blibli mascot dancing on stage. We consulted with one of our designer who happened to be active on dance community to help us with dance reference and do the final animation check once it already pass to our animator.

We also introduce an umbrella to the character in homage of “Singin’ in the Rain” musical film in 1950 and reserve the animation library only for the second phase of campaign.
